Waxing gibbous moon setting over Wells Beach

This photo was taken from a Narragansett balcony at exactly 1:00 am on August 8. Just another reason why being able to live here makes us the luckiest condo community.

The moon turns orange and its shape becomes more oval as it approaches the horizon due to atmospheric refraction. Also, turbulence blurs the moon's surface detail.
